Recipe – Turmeric Latte

After reading the book by Dr Greger “How Not To Die” it gave me a lot to think about in terms of how I can improve my health through boosting my health. So as I learned that turmeric in the bloodstream produces curcumin and it has a great DNA protection and anti-inflammatory properties, also adding a pinch of black pepper increases the amount of curcumin to 2000%. As I run a lot I thought of adding a daily 1/2 tsp of turmeric and 1/2 tsp of black in water then drinking it every morning.

So another way of enjoying tumeric is to make this turmeric latte. It contains tumeric and black pepper plus other delicous ingredients.
2 C of plant milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp tumeric
1 tsp maple syrup
Pinch black pepper
Pinch dry ginger
Pinch cayenne pepper

Blend all ingredients until smooth liquid
Pour the liquid into a small pot and heat for 3 to 5 minutes
Serve immediately

Trail Running – Williamstown, Victoria, Australia

On a brief business trip I had to pleasure to wake up and go running on the foreshore area of Williamstown which is near Melbourne.  It was a calm morning with a nice sunrise to start the day.

Recipe – Baked Potato with Mexican Beans

This is a favourite post trail run meal.   It’s takes approx 15 to make and is in my opinion vegan fast food.
Serves 2 people
1 large scrubbed and washed potato
1 400g tin Mexican beans
1 Tbsp sriracha sauce
1 tsp vegan margarine
1 Tbsp hummus
1 handful of cherry tomatoes
1/2 C sweet corn
Fresh pepper
Place the potato in the microwave for 7 minutes
(Depending on the size it may take longer to cook)
Place the Mexican beans, sweet corn and tomatoes in a pot
On a medium heat.
Test that the potato is cooked by sliding a knife into the potato
When ready make a cross in the centre, place the margarine, hummus, pepper  and
sriracha sauce in the bottom of the potato
Then pour the Mexican bean mixture into the centre and then serve with
Another squirt of sriracha sauce and fresh pepper.

Quote – Ultra Running

“I wasn’t born with any innate talent. I’ve never been naturally gifted at anything. I always had to work at it. The only way I knew how to succeed was to try harder than anyone else. Dogged persistence is what got me through life. But here was something I was half-decent at. Being able to run great distances was the one thing I could offer the world. Others might be faster, but I could go longer. My strongest quality is that I never give up.”
