I changed this recipe to match my taste buds only slightly from the original which can be found in the
book “No Meat Athlete” As I have said before if you are looking for any good vegan recipes for endurance
sports then buy this book.
This sports drink is natural and has everything you need to enjoy your hard workout. I drank one recently on
a 25Km trail run and left great afterward not close to bonking at all which is a different story from another
experience I had on a previous long run.
A few words about coconut water. On it’s own is a great healthy drink which includes the electrolytes calcium,
magnesium, phosphorus, sodium and potassium. You can buy it here in Australia (probably like all over the world too)
in your local supermarket.
2 C water
3 fresh medjool dates (remove pits)
1 C fresh coconut water
1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp salt
Add the water, fresh coconut water, fresh medjool dates, freshly squeezed lemon juice and salt.
Blend together in a high speed blender until you see a uniformed colour in the liquid. It will take under a
minute to achieve this liquid colour.
