The foreshore birds of the Cleveland, Queensland coast are the same as other foreshore birds.
We humans believe we are amazing for our achievements, but these birds are super achievers.
Many birds travel 25,000 kms each year, some larger species fly 6000kms non-stop. Even birds
weighting only 30g or 1.05 ounces can fly these distances. They may lose 40% of their
own body weight which is the equivalent of an 80Kg or 176 pound human running 16 million kms
0r 9.94 million miles nonstop and losing 32 Kg. Amazing feat for a 30g little bird. I struggle
running 30 kms or a marathon….
